Join the Kindness Community this Christmas

What comes to mind when you think of Christmas? Behind every door lies a different story. And that’s why, this year, we are reaching more of our neighbours with Bags of Kindness, so more can experience the joy and hope that Christmas promises.

In 2023, over 100,000 Bags of Kindness were delivered to vulnerable people in our communities, and since launch, we've reached over 1.5 million people.

I’m a business

Your questions answered

  • Christmas is a season for kindness and hope, where we celebrate the greatest gift of love. It’s a time to reach out to neighbours and strangers by sharing generosity and the warmth of connection.

Join hundreds of churches across the nation in delivering Bags of Kindness to neighbours in your community who are facing hardship or living alone this Christmas.

  • Churches - We work with churches as our main point of contact for Love Christmas. Many of you are already working on your plans for this year. We would love to hear from you! Please register your church's interest in joining this year's kindness community ahead of September's launch.

Businesses, schools, and other organisations - We encourage you to join with churches working in your community. There are many ways you can participate, including providing volunteers, referrals, in-kind gifts, hosting an event, etc.

Individuals - You are so welcome to volunteer with churches' Love Christmas projects!

If you have trouble locating a church In your community to support, please email the Love Christmas team to find the nearest Love Christmas project in your area. Please note, we will launch in September 2023.

  • Make a plan to get involved with Love Christmas in a way that works best for your context and community. We recommend incorporating aspects of each of the following areas into your plans:

    • ORGANISE Love Christmas activities to give Bags of Kindness

    • MULTIPLY volunteers from your congregation and city

    • EXPAND your partnership network by working with other churches, businesses, local authority, schools, prisons, NHS, charity, etc in your community

    • RAISE awareness on social media and the press by sharing your Love Christmas activities

  • Yes! We will be offering grants to churches that meet the following criteria:

    • Grant Size/Purpose - £1,000 minimum to go towards Bags of Kindness

    • Number of Bags of Kindness - 200 minimum

    • Match Funding - Raise funds to match 100% of the grant, exceptions may apply

    • Number of Partners - 3 "partners" minimum

At least one partner church and two other churches and/or organisations to help action your Love Christmas project

(An example of partnership: A local primary school in a deprived area would love hand out Bags of Kindness to their pupils. You have a local business that would like to donate chocolate bars and there is a local church that has congregants that want to pack bags and deliver them to the school, etc.)

This year's grant application will be within the sign-up form, which will become available in September 2023.

  • This year's Love Christmas will kick off in September 2023 when we launch our sign-up form, including grant application, and online resource hub. Our resource hub will have all the information you need to run your Love Christmas project.

In the meantime, you can get in touch with our Love Christmas team for any planning and partnership questions.

We’re here to help! Our FAQs cover all you may need to know, but you can also reach our helpful team by sending us an email.

Communities Unite for Kindness’ Sake

‘I had some awful choices this year. Do I feed my kids, keep them warm, or do I buy them a present? I couldn’t do it all, so I was getting more and more upset and feeling so guilty as my children were excited about what Santa would bring them – I knew they would be so sad on Christmas morning...'
