Meg's volunteer story
While working at the Shelter we noticed that a lot of people were coming in with damaged or ripped clothes. I once spoke to a man who came in during the Winter with a sleeve that was almost fully ripped off of his coat which was making him freezing cold. I asked if he wanted me to mend it but he was very hesitant to hand it to me as it was one of his very few possessions. When he did finally give it to me, and I sewed it up, he was so grateful.
I then realised that this was a way I could really help out, so I got a sewing machine and I now spend my time here mending clothes and chatting to people. I love it.
